Turkey Unveils 5G Transport Corridor, Signaling a High-Speed Shift in Mobility

During his keynote address at the 17th ITS European Congress in Istanbul, Turkey's Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan, highlighted the country's advancements in 5G-enabled intelligent transportation.

At the opening of ITS Istanbul Congress 2026, Turkey’s deputy transport minister introduced an ambitious vision for a 5G-enabled intelligent transport corridor, positioning the country at the forefront of next-generation mobility infrastructure. The project showcased a live framework where ultra-fast connectivity supports communication between vehicles, roadside systems, and control centers in real time.

The corridor is designed to enable safer and more efficient travel by allowing vehicles to exchange data on speed, location, and road conditions with minimal delay.
